If you're committed to cooking for him, you need to learn the "rules " of eating for IBS. Soluble fiber at every meal and whenever his tummy is empty. Cook insoluble fiber well and puree or chop it so the bowel has less work to break it down, Total fat intake should be less than 25% and should focus on heart healthy fats. Never let him eat fat on an empty stomach. The IBS triggers include red meat, egg yolks, dairy, wheat, and a few others... you can find lists at both the websites I've posted. Has he ever been tested for food intolerances? There are some great supplements out there that can help him, too. Do some research and you'll find it's not that difficult... just takes some planning. Good luck! |
